Digital hearing aids represent the most sophisticated hearing aid technology available. Digital technology gives the audiologist maximum control over sound quality and sound processing characteristics, so that the best possible speech understanding can be achieved. Digital hearing aids have been available since 1996. Around 99% of all hearing aids dispensed today are digital. Within digital technology there are three levels: entry level, mid level and high level.
Level 1
Mainly for individuals who need to hear in basic situations, such as one-to-one conversation in a quiet environment and watching television.
Level 2
Mainly for individuals who need to hear better in person in a quiet environment, while watching television and in small, occasional groups.
Level 3
Mainly for individuals who are always on the move and frequently in demanding situations, such as noisy settings (restaurants, small and large groups and so on), reverberant rooms, telephone calls, television, one-to-one conversation in quiet surroundings and more.

Hearing aids in all three classes deliver excellent sound quality and speech clarity. However, depending on the additional functions and the performance of the integrated chip, they differ in price. The cost of a hearing aid is determined by the type of technology chosen. The type of technology chosen is based on the individual’s lifestyle, concerns and hearing goals.
From medical clearance to fitting: the steps we follow with every patient.
Before a hearing aid is recommended to a patient, our staff will request clearance from an ENT specialist or an audiologist in order to rule out any medical condition that would preclude the use of amplification. This policy is in place in the patient’s best interest. The medical clearance can be provided by our ENT specialist at our clinic.
Once medical clearance has been obtained, the patient is seen for a hearing aid assessment. During this appointment, the audiologist or audiometrist at our clinic will discuss the patient’s hearing loss and its impact on communication. Different hearing aid styles and technology levels are also discussed. Most patients and their families have many questions, and these will be addressed. Please bring someone with you, so that all questions can be answered. One hour is dedicated to the initial hearing aid assessment. There is no fee for this appointment.
RINO Clinic works with AudioService (WSA Audiology), which offers digital hearing aids in a variety of styles and sizes. Our clinic also offers assistive listening devices (for example telephone amplifiers/amplified telephones, television headphones and similar) and hearing accessories (devices that connect via Bluetooth to mobile phones, televisions and so on), according to the patient’s needs and lifestyle. The cost of a hearing aid ranges from approximately 250–2000 € per device, depending on the circuitry and features. Once the hearing aids have been ordered, the device will be ready in approximately two days or sooner, depending on the style, and a second appointment is arranged for this. Full payment for the hearing aid is required at this appointment.
At the hearing aid fitting, the audiologist will programme the hearing aids and explain a number of features, including how to insert and remove the device from the ear, how to change the batteries and how to clean and maintain the hearing aids.
These are used to improve the fit and comfort of universal earphones. The ear moulds are made to measure, so that they never fall out of your ears. In addition, they help to reduce external noise. They are commonly used with iPods, MP3 players, CD players, handheld games, mobile phone sets and similar devices.
These help to reduce the amount of moisture entering the ear canal while swimming or bathing.
